What does AppStitcher currently not do?

Currently the app has the basic functionality for photo timing and recording results in a DBMS context of Meets, Events, Heats and Lane Results. There are a number of features that are planned but not yet implemented. In particular athletes are manually entered for each lane result. Future versions could have an Athlete database to select from, and the ability to import athlete lists from Csv files.

Also configuring Meets the location is manually entered. It would be better to have an updatable table of venues to choose from.

With respect to Events, whilst there is a standard set of events for track and field athletics, there is currently no way to select from a standard list. You enter the distance (which can be anything) and then select the add the track type. It would be better to have a standard list of events to choose from.

There is currently no way to handle DQ’s, NoStarts, NoFinishes etc in the Lane Results. This would be a useful addition.

There is currently no way to handle wind readings for sprints and jumps. This would be a useful addition.

The app thus far is upon lane based track events. Middle distance and longer distance events, don’t finish in lanes, are not catered for. You could though assign athletics for, say, up to 25 lanes and record their finish times from a stitched image. However, there is no way to handle lap splits etc. This would be a useful addition. There is correctly an app setting though that limits the number of lanes that can be assigned to an event, typically 8 or up to 12. This would have to be handled for distance events.

There is no intention currently to handle field events such as jumps and throws. This would be a useful addition.

The Photo Timing image stitching need to be reversed on teh horizontal axis to bring it in line with commercial photo finish images where time increases from right to left. Currently time increases from left to right. When videoed form outside of the track athletes are running left to right and so making the change would make the stitched image more intuitive to read.

Discussion

The current limitations of the AppStitcher app highlight the need for further development to enhance its functionality and usability. By addressing these gaps, the app can better serve the needs of athletes, coaches, and event organizers in the realm of athletics.

So is there are call for these additions?

Also are you looking at actually using teh app for Meets are are you just looking at the code for other purposes?

Ps: Stopping this development for now. Awaiting any feedback before going further.
